Ikeahacker is the blog that turns anyone with power tools into an industrial designer - they post photos and descriptions of projects made of hacked and repurposed Ikea products into something else.
Example - the designer bookcase on the left is over $500. The one on the right is $40. An enterprising soul sawed it in half and painted it to make two shelves, saving $960. Sweet!
Understandably, this house was built out of cemented beer bottles by Tom Kelly in 1906. It was restored in 1925 by Paramount Pictures.
The bank building was used in the 2005 film The Island.
Typical for boom towns, the city had only 20 residents in 1920, even as electricity and utilities were cut off a few years earlier. By all accounts, though, the town is in pretty good shape for being over 100 years old and abandoned for most of that.

A slightly better kept secret is that he's been a famous comedian in England for decades. He was in the BBC historical comedy Blackadder with Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean), and with his friend and comedy partner Stephen Fry he did Jeeves & Wooster, as well as a really great sketch show called A Bit of Fry and Laurie, shown here.
Hugh's character on House is grumpy, misanthropic, sarcastic, and serious so it's really great to see him as a wacky and somewhat effete sketch comedian. He can do drama, accents, sketch comedy, sing and play piano and guitar, and do Shakespeare. What more could you ask for?
