Ultimate Party Trick
Fakir Mirin Dajo was born in the Netherlands in 1912 and later changed his name to mean "wonderful" in Esperanto. His prowess at meditating was such that he could pierce his body completely with fencing swords. This kind of feat has been recorded before, but generally people pierce only adipose tissue - not vital organs through the torso.
Naturally, while impressive, the fakir garnered skepticism. He allowed himself to be examined by doctors in Zurich in the 1940s and they took the x-ray below which revealed that he was indeed able to do as he claimed.
He died in 1948 of an aortic rupture which may have happened from one of these piercings.
