La Vie en Rose
The Boto or pink dolphin is a freshwater dolphin that lives in the Amazon and Orinoco Rivers of South America.
They vary in shade from brown-gray to bright pink. The pink grows stronger when they are excited or surprised - just like people! Like flamingos, the pink shade comes from pigments in the shellfish that the dolphins eat.
An Amazonian legend says that the dolphins become handsome men at night, and they seduce and impregnate local girls and then go back to the river and change into dolphins again, somewhat like the incubus in medieval European mythology.
